The 5 best fine dining restaurants in Leeds worth getting dressed up for
Netflix and pizza can totally set the vibe for a first date, but sometimes, you’ve got to level it up. Swap the couch for a candlelit table, throw on something fancy, and head out for a fine dining experience.
It just makes sense. There’s something about sharing beautifully plated food in a romantic setting that feels like a little escape. And if you’re aiming for that second date, the right restaurant can make all the difference.
Our team’s got you covered with a few top fine dining restaurants in Leeds that we’ve actually visited ourselves. Trust us, these spots are worth dressing up for.
How much does dining in a fine dining restaurant cost in Leeds?
Dining in a fine dining restaurant in Leeds can cost around £50–£80 per person for a good 3-course meal. For more upscale tasting-menu spots, you’ll find prices starting from about £100+ per person.
1. Tharavadu

Address: 7-8 Mill Hill
Phone: +44 113 244 0500
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 12 PM – 2 PM, 5 PM – 10 PM
- Saturday: 12 PM – 10 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Diners hold Theravadu in such high regard, and we quickly understood why. It’s not just another Indian restaurant. This restaurant sticks to Kerala-style cooking with confidence.
The dishes are built on layers of spice rather than sheer heat. Coconut and tamarind bring balance and depth that define southern Indian cuisine.
The seafood dishes are particularly memorable. The Padipura mix seafood arrives as a generous spread of grilled prawns, battered squid, and mussels slathered in sauce.
Basically, this dish gleams in shades of gold and orange. It’s abundant and unapologetically bold.
Presentation-wise, there’s an understated elegance. The starters, especially the chaat players, stand out visually. There’s colour, crunch, and contrast that’s very inviting.
The drinks menu deserves credit too. Cocktails and mocktails are crafted to complement the spices rather than fight them.
That said, some diners said that the service didn’t quite match the warmth of the food. While the dishes left them glowing, the staff’s slightly distant attitude cooled the experience a little.
While we didn’t experience it ourselves, as the staff who served us was absolutely friendly, we think it’s important to maintain consistency in service to make the experience more memorable for everyone.
Can’t wait to go back!
“What an amazing experience. I loved the food so much, some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten! The vegan options are really good- their take on poppadoms are so tasty and the fried lentil rings are unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Can’t wait to go back!”

The food was excellent, every mouthful just made me smile
“Came here on a friend’s recommendation and no regrets! The service was friendly and prompt, even seating is earlier than we had booked due to heavy rain outside, which was nice! The food was excellent, every mouthful just made me smile. I had the seafood curry, and it was spot on. Certainly be back! My only quibble was that the seating we had was near the toilets and the washroom for pots, quite noisy and busy with staff moving in and out.”

2. Uyare

Address: Victoria Gate, 3rd Floor, Rooftop, George St
Phone: +44 113 460 1797
Business hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday to Thursday: 12 PM – 11 PM
- Friday to Saturday: 12 PM – 11:30 PM
- Sunday: 12 PM – 8 PM
Tharavadu’s sister restaurant, Uyare, also deserves a spotlight on our list.
There’s an immediate sense of occasion when we arrive at their rooftop. The space is open and airy, with multiple dining areas and a bar that feels sophisticated. All of these set the stage for what turns out to be an elevated take on Kerala cuisine.
Their dishes didn’t fail to capture our hearts. Starters like Kalathappam, a pancake with deep culinary roots in Mid-Travancore, and the Lamb Pepper Fry highlight the kitchen’s attention to texture and seasoning.
Mains such as Peddapan Kozhi Curry and Kerala Prantha continue this theme, with flavours that are bold and layered without being overwhelming.
Presentation at Uyare is thoughtful without being showy. Plates are colourful, textures are layered, and portions feel celebratory without tipping into indulgence.
What Tharavadu lacked in service, Uyare made up for it… well, almost. The staff are professional and pleasant, but we noticed some occasional delays between courses.
They handled this gracefully, though. We appreciated how they offer complimentary drinks to help ease the pause.
Everything that was brought to our table was just gorgeous
“Quite honestly, the best food we’ve had in Leeds for a long time. This place is not only absolutely stunning, but it has the nicest, friendliest staff we’ve come across in the city. Then the food……wow! We couldn’t choose, so we asked our waiter if he would choose a selection for us and just surprise us! Everything that was brought to our table was just gorgeous – he chose right! It was our anniversary too, and we were gifted a lovely pistachio dessert. Honestly, the attention to detail here is second to none. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making us so welcome, Uyare.”

The flavour is bang on
“Very authentic South-Indian restaurant. Great flavours. The dishes are actually sufficient for a single person, so one dish is for one person, unlike the traditional indian restaurant experience. The flavour is bang on. Highly recommend. The restaurant is great for dining in, a date or a family experience. The staff are friendly. Good choice of drinks available too. Recommend.”

3. Chef Jono at V&V

Address: 68 New Briggate
Phone: +44 113 345 0202
Business hours:
- Monday to Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday to Saturday: 5 PM – 9:30 PM
- Sunday: 12 PM – 3 PM
Chef Jono at V&V mostly runs on their tasting menu, and from everything we’ve seen, he knows how to take you on a journey with his dishes.
The seabass, for example, shone for its subtle seasoning that lets the natural flavour shine. Some layered sauces and accompaniments add depth, but it wasn’t overpowered.
There’s also the mushroom tiramisu—a playful twist on a classic dessert that somehow balances earthy umami with creamy richness. It was inventive and totally memorable.
We also appreciated that dietary restrictions are handled gracefully here. There are vegetarian options and adaptations for specific needs like garlic intolerance.
On the flip side, we’ve heard from some past diners that the tasting menu can sometimes feel dense and fast-paced.
Rich and heavy dishes come one after the other, and we get how the experience can feel overwhelming if you’re not prepared.
Even so, we still think this spot’s worth visiting. Our team can’t wait to go back and try the 5-course Sunday lunch menu. It seems like the perfect way to enjoy Chef Jono’s talents in a slightly more relaxed setting.
Every course was delicious and presented so perfectly
“We thoroughly enjoyed our first food tasting experience at V&V. Chef Jono’s food is incredible. Beautiful flavours expertly seasoned. We were looked after so well from the moment we arrived, with such attentive customer service and so many wonderful flavours and textures that I kept saying ‘wow!’ We were so well looked after by the staff as well. Every course was delicious and presented so perfectly. I will definitely be going back.”

Another amazing food tasting visit to Chef Jono
“Another amazing food tasting visit to Chef Jono. It was hard to choose a favourite dish, as all were delicious. Service was fantastic too. Take a very empty tummy as portions are filling. Chef and staff were very kind and let me take home some portions at the end that we couldn’t fit in, so we didn’t miss out. Loved the Chef’s take on steak pie when I got home, and have just eaten the Mushroom Tiramisu for breakfast, Best breakfast I have ever had! Definitely worth booking if you enjoy tasting menus or just love food. They also do a 5-course Sunday lunch menu that we would like to try.”

4. Tattu Leeds

Address: Minerva, 29 E Parade
Phone: +44 113 245 1080
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 12 PM – 12 AM
If we’re just talking about ambience, Tattu Leeds, no doubt, offers that. Cherry blossoms and white roses hang from the ceiling, and the soft lighting also creates a space that’s instantly photogenic.
The team at Tattu doesn’t just rely on the surroundings, though. Service here seems to have been polished to perfection.
Staff are attentive without being overbearing, friendly without feeling staged. They take time to explain the menu, offer suggestions, and even remember small details that make you feel genuinely valued.
Complimentary dishes pop up here and there. It’s a thoughtful touch that shows how they’re invested in creating a dining experience rather than just serving a meal.
We really loved some of their mains, like crispy chilli beef with rice that has a very good blend of flavours and presentation. We got Asian Pear Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert, and it’s playful yet refined.
That said, some starters did feel small for the price. We understand it’s fine dining, but a few dishes left us wishing the portions matched the premium price.
Can’t wait to come back — truly a gem!
“Absolutely loved our experience at Tattu last night. The food was bursting with flavor, Deriel is very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing meal. We were delighted to receive a complimentary dish — a wonderful gesture that made the experience even more special. Can’t wait to come back — truly a gem!”

5. The Cut & Craft Leeds

Address: 23 King Edward St
Phone: +44 113 831 4829
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 11 AM – 10 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 9 AM – 10 PM
Even though The Cut & Craft’s space is stylish and modern, it still has that warmth where we didn’t feel out of place for a first-time visit. Little details, such as the elegant restrooms, hint at the level of care here.
For food, we had the flat iron steak, and we’re not joking when we say it’s cooked to perfection. It’s tender and juicy.
The truffle chips also manage to be golden and crisp without tipping into greasy territory.
The Sunday Roast sharing platter is also a highlight. It gives generous portions that don’t compromise on quality.
The variety of sides and sauces also gives the menu flexibility, perfect for groups with different tastes.
Service appears consistently friendly and attentive too. It’s the kind that made us feel at home without overstepping.
No matter how good the ambience here was, something that annoyed us a little was the repetitive music. It’s slightly distracting, especially in quieter dining moments.
The food was absolutely delicious
“Had a fantastic experience at Cut & Craft Leeds! The food was absolutely delicious – beautifully presented and full of flavour. The setting is stunning, with such a stylish and welcoming atmosphere. Even the restrooms are worth a mention – so elegant and spotless, really adding to the overall experience…”
