Locals only swear by these 5 custom-made tailors in London
In London, a good tailor is pretty much a quiet flex. You can easily spot it on the Tube or in Soho cafes, where someone’s suit looks a little too good to be off-the-rack.
What we’re trying to say is, Londoners know. There’s a difference between fine and sharp. And really, all that comes to is who’s holding the measuring tape.
Still, it’s easy to pay Savile Row money for very un-Savile Row results. So our team looked at craftsmanship and spoke to clients to find custom-made tailoring services that just hit right.
These are the custom-made tailors in London who deliver every single time!
How much does custom tailoring cost in London?
The cost of custom tailoring in London ranges from £1,800 to £4,000 for premium fabrics. More affordable options range from £400 to £1,000.
1. Alterations & Bespoke (Altbes)

Location: 37 Moreton St, Pimlico
Contact: +44 7985 575350
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday: 12:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Sunday: 12:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Altbest earned our favour for their range of services and precise designs. They handle everything from everyday alterations to full bespoke garments.
It’s also a win that they can handle complex wedding and couture pieces. We love that they can confidently work with challenging fabrics such as silk, leather, and beaded textiles.
Looking at their pieces, we were highly impressed by the quality of workmanship. The stitching is invisible in all the right places. Plus, clients confirmed that the pieces fit perfectly.
Communicating with them is clear and reassuring. We also appreciate that they offer guidance on adjustments that will improve the fit.
When necessary, clients can do multiple fittings. They even offer home and hotel fittings, as well as collection and delivery.
That said, demand can be high, which can be a downside if you’re eyeing a dress during peak wedding seasons. Pricing is also on the premium end.
Very professional service
“Very professional service. I took my bridesmade satin dress to shorten and fix the top. I couldn’t ask for any better. The length is perfect and well done. They very professional and willing to have more than one fitting to make sure every part of the dress is well taken care of. I will come back for sure!”

Adjusted to perfection
“After finding a super pair of jeans in Chelsea I needed a quick and professional alteration for them to be shortened. Popped in, spoke with Zlata who had them shortened to perfection and ready for collection that evening. Much appreciated ❤️”

2. Tailor Made London

Location: 80 Britannia Walk, London N1 7RH
Contact: +44 20 7566 0077
Opening Hours: Monday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Tailor Made London wins in terms of personalisation. For starters, their fitting processes run smoothly. They combine traditional tailoring techniques with modern 3D scanning for fittings.
This is a process we liked, as it also considers the posture and shoulder angles of the client.
The technical skill is also solid. According to a few clients, their lead tailor was able to get sizes accurately from the first fitting.
Fabric selection is another strong point. We’re very impressed with their catalogue of over 6,000 premium cloths from British and Italian mills.
The same can be said for their services. They can do wedding suits, formalwear, and pieces for special occasions.
Communication was another major touch. Clients can expect follow-up emails and calendar reminders for fittings.
While everything else is great, we did notice that a few staff appear to be “bored” when assisting clients. For a service that lands on the premium end, we were expecting better in-store service.
Surpasses expectations
“Bought a wedding suit from here last year and was helped by Lloyd to pick a fantastic look. The process was really simple, and the outcome was beyond my expectations. The only issue is that made to measure trousers have ruined off-the-shelf for me so I’m heading back to start building everyday wear…”

Perfect fit with outstanding quality
“I recently purchased a tailor made suit from Tailor Made London for my daughter’s wedding and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The service was excellent from start to finish & everything was organised smoothly, Lloyd made the whole process effortless. The suit itself was of outstanding quality, perfectly fitted, and received many compliments on the day. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend Tailor Made London to anyone looking for a suit for a special occasion.”

3. Roberto Revilla London Bespoke Tailor

Location: 179 Tottenham Ct Rd, London W1T 7NZ
Contact: +44 20 3997 8733
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Roberto Revilla is particularly strong when it comes to wedding suits, which we think is mainly because of their approach. Apart from standard measurements, they also consider the venue and season of the event when creating designs.
This attention to detail is a big plus. Through this, clients felt that the process was truly collaborative and stress-free. The reassuring experience helps avoid feelings of intimidation.
We also appreciate the level of personalisation they go through. Initials, dates, linings, and subtle embroidery are all added thoughtfully.
And of course, the quality of craftsmanship really stands out.
But what truly got us is their expertise in non-standard body types. They can cater to clients who have asymmetrical builds or have plus-size bodies.
If you want to work with them, make sure you have the budget. Their rates fall on the higher end, especially with more complex fabrics and fits.
Availability during peak times may also be limited.
Makes the process more enjoyable
“I’m so happy I chose Bobby for my wedding suit. I’d never had a suit properly tailored before, so I wanted the personal touch. That’s definitely what I got. He properly takes the time to get to know you and what makes you tick, which means the suit ends up being more *you*, as well as making the whole process that much more enjoyable. Plus, the suit itself is perfect! Would 100% recommend.”

Excellent quality
“Bobby made a glorious lightweight jacket, trousers and two shirts for my wedding. They are really excellent. Due to a broken collarbone my right arm is very slightly longer than my left, which means that off the rack jackets and shirts never fit properly. No problem for Bobby; his jacket and shirts fit like a glove. And the trousers are the lightest and most comfortable pair I’ve ever worn. I’d recommend him without hesitation.”

4. Orhan London Tailoring

Location: 25A Pitfield St, London N1 6HB
Contact: +44 20 7250 3569
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Getting insights from clients, we noticed how collaborative the consultations are. The team listens carefully and offers guidance without pressuring the clients.
In terms of fittings, many clients said that the quality of fit is always so precise. In fact, pieces end up requiring minimal adjustments, which makes the process faster and more stress-free.
What’s great is that the craftsmanship is undeniable. Some of the clients we spoke to said that the pieces lasted for many, many years.
Another thing we noticed is the inclusive and welcoming environment. LGBTQIA+ clients, in particular, say they felt safe and respected.
As for efficiency, the turnaround times are generally reliable. Deadlines are met without sacrificing quality, which is always what we want.
Sadly, there were a few reports of poor-quality repairs. This isn’t a recurring issue, though we find the inconsistency just a tad bit worrying.
Peak seasons, as expected, limit availability for appointments.
Best experience
“I had the best experience with Orhan and his team. I would highly recomend their services. I had a 70’s wool suit altered by Orhan for my wedding and I am very happy with the result. I also got a custom made shirt buy them for the ocasion.
My wife had her wedding dress altered there and she was over the moon with the result.
Best tailor in London.”

Great attention to detail and niche vision
“Orhan, Mary and Natalie loving created my wedding outfit – bringing a very niche vision to life. The care and attention to detail that went into making this garment is impeccable. I felt listened to and seen in all our interactions. It felt like a real privilege to have something made by such a wonderful group of kind and talented humans. I’ll be back!”

5. Lewis of London Tailoring

Location: 14 Cantelowes Rd, London NW1 9XP
Lewis of London stands out for their craftsmanship. What makes them even better is their good range of premium fabrics. Some of these include Holland & Sherry, Dugdale Bros, and Dormeuil.
On top of that, they also have a solid range of bespoke linings and embroidery options. These make them ideal for clients who prefer a luxurious take on pieces.
The studio can also work well in special circumstances, including tight deadlines for weddings. This makes them a potential choice for clients who may need last-minute adjustments.
That said, we still recommend calling ahead to book availability. Appointments can be tight during peak season.
On the good side, communication and reliability are solid strengths. Whenever clients have questions, they’re answered promptly. No one is kept in the dark with progress.
Pricing is definitely on the higher end, so it’s definitely an investment. Naturally, more complex designs will also push the total higher.
Smooth process and great design
“Deborah was fantastic! Thank you so much for a very lovely suit! The whole process was a smooth ride – from the fitting & the measurements, to choosing the design, the bespoke features and the final product. It looks great – can’t wait to wear it! Highly recommend Deborah and Lewis of London Tailoring – thank you!! Xx”
