The 5 best custom-made tailors in Birmingham to suit you up for any occasion
There are moments in life when looking sharp is essential. I learned this the hard way when I had a reservation at a fine dining restaurant with a strict formal dress code. I realised my wardrobe didn’t have a single suit that could pass muster.
Scrambling last-minute was stressful, and I definitely could have used a tailor who could turn fabric into confidence.
To make sure you don’t find yourself in the same situation, our team set out to find the best custom-made tailors in Birmingham.
So whether you’re attending an art gallery opening or a fancy dinner where every detail matters, these are the ones we’d recommend for your custom-made outfit.
How much does a bespoke suit or dress cost in Birmingham?
A bespoke suit in Birmingham typically starts at around £599–£850 for a basic two-piece and can go up to £1,200–£2,000+ depending on fabric quality and how fancy you want it. For bespoke dresses, they often begin around £300+.
1. A Hand Tailored Suit

If you spend enough time looking into bespoke tailoring in Birmingham, you’ve probably heard about A Hand Tailored Suit.
They’re pretty popular among locals because they can take inspiration from cultural icons like Peaky Blinders or the polished looks associated with James Bond.
We were surprised that men weren’t the only ones we saw at their shop, but also women. That speaks to their range. They can create classic two-piece and three-piece suits for any gender and tuxedos.
When we reached out to them, they mentioned Loro Piana and Vitale Barberis Canonico. Apparently, these are some of the well respected Italinan mills where they source their materials.
Customers were mostly satisfied with the finished products. Even those with unusual body proportions sang their praises about them. We also loved how, instead of pushing trends, the tailors help customers refine their own style.
Just remember that even if their shop says “open,” they only operate through appointments.
The finished look has left me speechless
“My first time getting a custom made suit. The finished look has left me speechless. From the materials, to the fitting, every detail put into making this suit has shown in the results. The service provided has been amazing. A big thank to Andrew and David for making my experience the best it can be. Definitely looking forward to purchasing from here again.”

They listened carefully to what I wanted
“I had my bespoke wedding suit made here and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The brothers really know their craft and are clearly passionate about what they do. From the start, they were friendly, supportive, and made the whole process enjoyable. They listened carefully to what I wanted, while also offering expert advice that really helped bring the design together. They make the experience enjoyable and the product is as good as the service. I can’t thank them enough for the wedding suit they made. I will certainly be back again for any bespoke garments I may need. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly tailored experience!”

Most tailors only focus on suits, and that’s it. That’s why we were impressed that Colmore Tailors creates bespoke pieces of suits, overcoats, chinos, and more.
They really extend tailoring beyond strictly formalwear, so some of us in our team just had to try their service.
Their wedding suits are especially popular, though their casual garments are equally considered. Everything is fully customisable from proportions to style details.
They’re very hands-on during the consultation. We’ve been guided through fabric, colour, and style options before going through an extensive measuring session.
Because of that attention to detail early on, the first fitting apparently only required a few minor adjustments.
What’s interesting is how much we’ve learned something about our own style along the way. They were generous to share their knowledge and helped us understand which colours and cuts suit us best.
That said, their bespoke approach isn’t built for speed. Gradual refinements are part of the process, and they seem to intentionally avoid rushing things.
They have such a great attention to detail
“Colmore Tailors was the best find Ben and I could have made! After wandering around Birmingham in and out of different suit shops with no luck, we luckily came across Colmore Tailors. Scott and Reuben are the best you’ll find! They really made us feel welcome and appreciated. They have such a great attention to detail and will always go above and beyond for their clients. Thanks to Scott and Reuben, Ben has got a suit that fits him well and looks amazing for our wedding day and any special occasion that follows. Thank you so much Scott and Reuben! You are the best!”

Colemore Tailors provides an abundance of knowledge
“I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Scott to discuss my needs/wants and get measured up for a new suit. Colemore Tailors provides a lovely environment, great conversation, an abundance of knowledge (and a decent soundtrack in the background 😀). Highly recommended and I cannot wait to see what the final suit looks like.”

3. Season Tailors

Address: 1 Drayton Rd., King’s Heath
Phone: +44 730-099-9660
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 9 AM – 6 PM
- Sunday: Closed
When we asked locals about their go-to tailoring shop, Season Tailors came up quite a few times as being affordable. They’re best for made-to-measure garments, including suits, jackets, trousers, and coats for both men and women.
It only got better when we realised how much they excel at alterations. This definitely secured their spot to cater for people who want dependable clothing without the intimidation or cost of luxury tailoring houses.
One customer mentioned bringing in clothing they thought was beyond saving, only to get it back looking brand new and perfectly fitted.
Another case highlighted how much detail they put into their work. When hemming a pair of jeans, the tailor preserved the original washed hem and reinforced the inside stitching to prevent fraying.
That’s a small technical move, but it shows the sort of craftsmanship that experienced tailors rely on to keep garments looking natural. They can also work with tight deadlines, but still deliver quality pieces.
That said, we don’t think they’re the best fit for those looking for highly specialised bespoke tailoring.
Absolutely brilliant tailoring work
“Absolutely brilliant tailoring work. I took in an off the rack suit and the transformation was incredible. The jacket and trousers now fit like a made to measure suit. The attention to detail and understanding of proper fit really shows. If you want your suit to look sharp and properly fitted, this is the place to go. Highly recommended.”

4. Karlus G. Tailor

Address: 17F Vyse St, Birmingham B18 6LE, United Kingdom
Phone: +44 121-603-6114
Business hours:
- Monday to Tuesday: 9 AM – 4 PM
- Wednesday: Closed
- Thursday to Friday: 9 AM – 4 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM – 12 PM
- Sunday: Closed
When our team started looking into Karlus G. Tailor, we realised it sits in a slightly different lane from much of Birmingham’s premium tailoring scene. In contrast, they’re more grounded and practical.
They operate as a CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) tailor. That means clients bring their own fabric and lining while the tailor handles the construction and finishing.
It’s a flexible setup, especially for people who already have materials they want to use.
Don’t worry, though. Karlus provides the trimmings, and they’re great at guiding clients when they’re choosing fabrics if they’re unsure.
We also noticed that they’re not confined to the usual tailoring staples. While suits are part of the offering, their range goes much wider: bridesmaid gowns, trousers, blouses, and more are all part of their portfolio.
It’s a great alternative to those who don’t want to spend much because they keep their prices affordable. Clients also said everything perfectly fit them after the tailors did their magic with the pieces.
More surprisingly, they can finish some pieces the same day, making them a great choice for last-minute needs.
That said, they’re not the best choice for those seeking a full luxury bespoke experience.
The best by far!
“The best by far!! I’ve been using Karlus tailors for couple years now, and honestly he is the best by far and that with great affordable prices.. 5. King & Allen – Birmingham Suit Tailors

Business hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: 9 AM – 6 PM
- Wednesday to Thursday: 11 AM – 8 PM

King & Allen’s is very intentional in modern tailoring. From everything we’ve gathered, they seem to focus on producing custom garments that reflect individuality.
They’ve done a lot of both men’s and women’s tailoring, and they’re very inclusive. Some of their past projects included suits for a lesbian wedding and even a custom suit for someone’s daughter heading to prom.
We were impressed that they can work on vegan fabrics and offer adaptive tailoring. We didn’t see much about these in traditional tailoring houses.
For people who sometimes feel overlooked in other shops, this place seems to make an effort to meet them where they are.
Several clients also shared with us how the staff members guide them throughout the process. Rather than leaving clients figure everything out on their own, the team explain the different options clearly and helps narrow things down.
The material selection is also a strong point. They have a wide selection of fabrics, colours, and styles available. We even heard of a vegan suit made from bamboo fibre, which the client said looked great and fitted perfectly.
They’re just a bit pricey compared to the other tailors we’ve looked into. However, most customers felt like the cost was worth it considering the time, craftsmanship, and materials involved.
The whole experience from start to finish truly was bespoke
“I couldn’t recommend King and Allen more – the whole experience from start to finish truely was bespoke. Anuki made me feel comfortable and listened to from the very first consultation. I had so many compliments on my suit on my wedding day, and I honestly did not want to take it off. I can’t wait for the next occassion to wear it again!! Best decision I ever made trusting Anuki, and King and Allen with creating my wedding outfit.”
