The 5 best golf coaches in Leeds who’ll help you hit the greens right
The first time I came across golf was way back, watching High School Musical 2 as a kid. The Evans family was all over this sport, and I couldn’t figure out why. Somehow, it totally grabbed my attention.
It looked so easy… until I actually tried it a few years later and quickly realised it’s anything but.
But hey, if you’re someone who’s genuinely into golf, we’ve got good news. We’ve tracked down some of the best golf coaches in Leeds who can help you up your game and maybe even feel like a pro.
How much do golf lessons cost in Leeds?
Golf lessons in Leeds usually cost £25–£40 for a 30-minute one-on-one session with a Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) professional. Hour-long sessions generally cost about £50–£70 and often include video analysis.
1. SM Golf Coaching

Address: Oulton Hall, 2 Rothwell Ln, Oulton
Phone: +44 7712 205812
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
The best thing about SM Golf Coaching is how golf coach Sott can coach complete beginners through to experienced players who simply need a reset or fine-tuning session.
Clients said he’s very patient and calm. He’s great at explaining movements in simple and understandable terms.
One player talked about finally understanding how their body movements were affecting the club and ball. It helped them gain more control.
His coaching setup at Oulton Hall leans heavily into technology. Scott uses tools like Trackman and other swing analysis systems to provide real data on what the club and ball are doing.
Players can actually see what’s happening in their swing through numbers and video.
The main drawback is price. At £80 per hour and packages going up to £500, it’s definitely positioned at the higher end locally.
He worked with me to improve my control
“Used Scott over a few months to help improve my game and enjoy golf a bit more. Scott was great at breaking down what my body was doing and how this was influencing the club and ultimately the ball. He broke down what I had often found really complicated instructions into manageable parts and worked with me to improve my control…”

Would 100% recommend Scott
“Would 100% recommend Scott. Great coach that makes everything simple, easy to understand and then put into practice. Doesn’t overload you with too much info and uses trackman for excellent feedback. Looking forward to working with him more in the future and seeing where his knowledge and input can take my golf game.”

Glen offers golf lessons at Leeds Golf Pro. He’s a PGA pro who makes his lessons personalised and backed by data.
Video analysis, personal notes, drills, and Flightscope launch monitor tech are used in every lesson. This way, it’s easy to see what’s working and what’s not.
A lot of students mentioned how simple he makes complicated swing stuff feel.
Every lesson also comes with a follow-up plan, pictures, and a video so the improvements actually stick.
The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) screenings are also impressive. Several people have mentioned that these screenings pointed out back pain or mobility issues they didn’t even know were affecting their game.
Glen also runs the biggest junior program in Leeds for kids aged 5–16. It already has weekly groups, summer camps, and events.
The only real downside is the price. Single lessons start at £40, which is reasonable. However, TPI screenings and elite monthly programs add up, and there aren’t any package discounts.
I would certainly recommend booking a lesson with him
“Glen has provided coaching to my son and I now for a number of years. His knowledge of the game and technical details is superb and he has an art of relaying this in simple easy to use routines you can take to your practice sessions. I would certainly recommend booking a lesson with him whatever standard you are currently playing to.”

Glen makes the lessons fun and engaging yet focused and challenging
“We would highly recommend Glen for professional golf tuition. Our two boys (10) and (6) have been with Glen now for about a year and from never having picked up a golf club before they are now very competent at striking a golf ball. Glen is incredibly patient with the boys (especially our youngest) and makes the lessons fun and engaging yet focussed and challenging. In addition to their one to one lessons the boys have also enjoyed small group sessions and holiday clubs. Glen is incredibly friendly, reliable, flexible and conscientious.”

Henry Taylor Golf Coaching is a strong option for those looking for personalised instruction.
A lot of this comes from Henry’s background. He’s a PGA pro, has a BA Hons in Sports Coaching, and holds advanced certifications. Those credentials give him a solid foundation for coaching golfers at almost any level.
We loved how individualised his approach is. He structures lessons and programs to fit each golfer’s unique swing, learning style, and physical build.
Drills, post-lesson videos with voiceovers, and tailored practice plans are all part of the process too. This makes it easier for students to focus on real improvements.
From what we’ve heard, Henry’s particularly strong at addressing weaknesses.
Players reported noticeable improvement in chipping, fixing slices, and creating more controlled draws.
Short game and swing mechanics are his strong points, and the results show when players put in the practice.
Just take note that he’s pretty popular. His lessons at Yorkshire Golf Academy can book up fast, sometimes taking weeks to get a spot.
Would definitely recommend lessons with Henry
“I have had a number of lessons with Henry over the last few years. Looking at all aspects of my game. He has a very professional approach, listens to your game concerns and takes you through a “step by step” process to build your game to where you are looking to be. Obviously it’s down to yourself as an individual to put in the practice – but Henry gives you the tools and thought process to allow you to do that. Most recently I had major problems with my chipping – spent a hour with Henry, put in some practice, and I am now chipping better than I have ever done. Would definitely recommend lessons with Henry if you want to improve your game and give yourself the best chance to play your best golf.”

4. Leeds Golf Club

Address: Elmete Ln, Roundhay
Phone: +44 113 265 9203
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 4 PM
At Leeds Golf Club, coaching is led by Phil and Scott. They’re both PGA-qualified and seasoned from working with everyone from total beginners to competitive players.
Several students mentioned that sessions don’t feel like a generic swing rebuild. Phil and Scott shape lessons around what the player actually needs. Some have focused on untangling a slice, others on sharpening a wedge control.
Where they seem particularly strong is in short game refinement and course management. That’s important because those areas are often where handicaps drop.
Based on what we’ve heard, their technical drills are blended with practical, on-course application.
It’s not just about hitting better shots in isolation. It’s also about understanding how to score.
The 18-hole championship course is a major asset too. It allows for real situational coaching instead of endless range sessions.
However, their facilities are more traditional. They may not be ideal for golfers looking for constant swing data and launch monitor analysis. They don’t have that here.
I must say the course is in brilliant condition
“Played a few nights at 5 o clock after work as me and a few lads work away and always take our clubs with us in the vans and I must say the course is in brilliant condition the first few holes are a bit boring but sleep on them and your cards wrecked before your eyes. The club house is brilliant and the members extremely helpful .I special mention to Stuart behind the bar. Absolutely brilliant what a bloke .hopefully back with work around that part of the world and will definitely be back”

I would happily recommend this course
“Very welcoming. A very quick round on my own as I had a couple of hours to kill. Pace of play was great and members let me through when I caught up. Very considerate members. Nice veried course, green in good nic, fairways had some minor works going on to improve them but didn’t get in the way of play. I would happily recommend this course.”

5. The Alwoodley Golf Club Pro Shop

Address: Wigton Ln
Phone: +44 113 268 9603
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday: 7 AM – 6 PM
- Sunday: 8 AM – 6 PM
The Alwoodley Golf Club Pro Shop is led by PGA Head Professional Lee Morrisoe and Assistant Professional Michael Sowerby.
Clients really loved how much time they both spent understanding individual goals before jumping into swing changes.
Sessions are shaped around what each golfer is actually trying to achieve here.
TrackMan plays a big role here. Lessons are backed by clear data showing club path, ball flight, and launch angles. It also means issues can be identified quickly and worked on with precision.
The facilities help a lot too. There’s a dedicated putting green, short game area, driving range, and an indoor TrackMan studio.
Since they’re also a shop selling golf equipment, clients can get a custom club fitting here as well.
There’s also a strong emphasis on course management. This makes sense given Alwoodley’s challenging layout.
The drawback is price. This is a premium club with premium tech, so it’s not the cheapest option around.
Absolutely fantastic golf club
“Absolutely fantastic golf club, thoroughly enjoyed my visit there, Catering staff were faultless and very attentative, Pro shop manager very friendly and informative. The course was in fantastic condition for this time of year and is a credit to the staff behind the scenes. Will definitely be turning in summer.”

Challenging, but still enjoyable
“Cracking course. A really beautiful layout. Challenging, but still enjoyable for an handicap. Lovely clubhouse too. We met a super friendly member too, which added to the experience.”
