1. Latif Solicitors

Address: Floor 1, Adamson House, 65 Westgate Rd
Phone: +44 191 230 0646
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Unlike firms that handle a wide range of legal areas, Latif Solicitors focuses on immigration law only. From what we’ve seen, sticking to one area has made them really good at it.
They’ve done spouse visas, in-country applications, Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) applications, and more.
Most of the people we spoke to had really good things to say, especially about Liaquat Latif, the founder. He’s one of the main solicitors and actually works on a lot of cases himself.
People said he was direct to the point and helpful. Some folks came in feeling lost, but left feeling like they had a solid plan.
If your case ends up going to a tribunal, they don’t pass you off to someone else. Mr. Latif is known to do the hearing himself.
The firm has been around since 2002, and they’ve worked with all sorts of clients—individuals, small business owners, and even larger companies. You might have a pretty good shot here.
That said, some people mentioned the fees weren’t consistent. A person mentioned said they were told it would be £250, but then later it was £350. Make sure to confirm the costs early on to avoid surprises.
We’re happy with the amazing help and support from Mr Latif and his team
“I would highly recommend Latif Solicitors to anyone in need of an immigration lawyer, just as the same recommendation was made to us, and we received outstanding service throughout.
From initial contact regarding our first spouse visa, and throughout the whole process, Mr Latif was not only professional, knowledgeable and experienced within his practice, but also very welcoming and friendly throughout.
We are overjoyed to say that with the amazing help and support from Mr Latif and his team, we received a successful outcome, and we will always be grateful and thankful for your expertise, support and dedication.”

2. Access Immigration Law

Address: Collingwood Buildings, 38 Collingwood St
Phone: +44 191 229 9730
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Our team recently looked into Access Immigration Law, a specialist firm that only handles immigration cases. We came quite impressed.
It’s led by Katy Fischer, who has over 20 years of experience, including time spent in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. That gives her a unique understanding of both business and humanitarian immigration needs.
Their advisers are also regulated at Level 3 by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), which is very impressive.
We also appreciated how upfront they are about their fees. Everything is clearly published, and there are no surprises.
The firm charges fixed fees, which have been approved by regulatory authorities. There are a few added charges for urgent or complex cases, but these are always discussed in advance.
Clients also consistently praise their service. A past client pointed out how quick the Home Office was to respond, which may reflect how thoroughly the application was prepared through the firm’s help.
We did notice a few things worth mentioning, though. Because the firm seems very hands-on, availability could be an issue, especially for urgent cases.
One person mentioned a delay because Katy wasn’t available when they were ready to proceed. It’s something to keep in mind if your case is time-sensitive.
Their professionalism and dependability are commendable
“I would like to express my gratitude to Katy at Access Immigration Law for her diligent efforts. My wife and I are appreciative of having obtained a spousal visa, which enables us to be in each other’s company. Their professionalism and dependability are commendable. I extend my thanks to Katy for her dedicated work.”

I appreciated the hands-on support from Katy during the process
“A big thanks to Katy and the team at Access Immigration. My spousal visa renewal was successful, and I appreciated the hands-on support from Katy during the process. She was great at checking in on how things were going when I was pulling documents together, and we had a few phone calls to go over everything. I felt like the whole thing was in good hands, and she was very knowledgeable about everything.”

3. SBV LAW

Address: 146 West Rd
Phone: +44 191 247 0417
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 10 AM – 6 PM
- Sunday: Closed
One of our biggest takeaways upon looking at SBV Law is how tailored their approach is to each client’s story.
A client with an urgent visa expiry said that other lawyers pressured her for money or didn’t help. Meanwhile, her SBV Law solicitor quickly scheduled an appointment, listened with empathy, and helped build a path forward—all in the first meeting.
Hearing that made it clear to us that this team isn’t just fast—they actually care. And when someone’s dealing with immigration stress, the last thing they need is a cold or pushy lawyer.
They’re also multilingual. Besides English, they can offer their services in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Urdu. That can make a difference for people who aren’t confident in Legal English.
We were also surprised that they offer pro bono assistance to people who genuinely need legal support but may not be able to afford it. That says a lot about their values.
That said, we didn’t hear much about them dealing with court appeals or more complex immigration cases.
Most of the cases we came across were work visas, family-based visas, or status confirmations. So if your case involves appeals, refusals, or something going to court, we’d recommend asking them directly about this.
He is truly knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly helpful
“I had a fantastic experience with SBV Law. Bhav provided exceptional guidance and support throughout the entire visa application process. He is truly knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly helpful, ensuring that everything went smoothly. A special thanks to him for his patience and professionalism in handling all our queries. The process was seamless, and I truly appreciate his dedication and commitment towards clients. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable and expert visa consultation. Thank you again for your support.”

Bhav was very patient while dealing with all my queries
“My experience with Bhav was fantastic. I always thought immigration procedures were time-consuming, costly and complicated. Even though our case was not a straightforward one, Bhav was very patient while dealing with all my queries, and his advice to us and arguments presented to the Home Office not only helped us to secure our visa en route to settlement but also saved a lot of money. He is the best immigration lawyer around if you are looking for advice and applications, and also a true gentleman. Thank you, SBV Law.”

4. Alex Bell Immigration Law

Address: Collingwood Buildings, 38 Collingwood St
Phone: +44 191 229 9692
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
From all the other firms we’ve looked into, Alex Bell Immigration Law stood out. They stick to the tough stuff. They’re all about complex cases: people facing removal or folks who’ve already been refused and are trying again through appeal.
The firm is led by Alex Bell himself, who handles most (if not all) of the cases personally. You get advice straight from someone who’s been dealing with the Home Office for decades.
We really liked how they don’t sugarcoat things. If your case has weak spots, they’ll tell you right away. If there’s a realistic chance, they’ll fight for it. They’re clear, honest, and don’t talk in confusing legal terms.
Another strong point we noted was how they work with vulnerable people. Many of their clients we met were refugees, survivors of violence, or people at risk of persecution.
In those situations, sensitivity and cultural understanding aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential. Clients said they were listened to and respected.
That said, their fees are on the higher side compared to other firms. That may reflect the expertise and personal involvement from Alex himself, but it’s still something to consider if you’re working within a strict budget.
Communication was always prompt and thorough
“I had the pleasure of working with Alex Bell Immigration, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the exceptional service I received. From the very beginning, he provided clear, concise advice and patiently guided me through every step of my wife’s immigration process. Their professionalism and attention to detail were evident in everything they did, ensuring I understood my options and felt confident in the decisions I was making. Communication was always prompt and thorough, and I truly felt like a priority throughout the entire process. Thanks to Alex, I was able to successfully navigate a complex situation, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their expertise. Highly recommend!”

5. David Gray Solicitors LLP

Address: Old County Court, 56 Westgate Rd
Phone: +44 191 232 9547
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
David Gray Solicitors’ strength seems to be Bryony Rest’s leadership, who heads the immigration team. She’s nationally recognised and accredited by the Law Society.
This is very reassuring, especially for people dealing with complex immigration issues. What’s more, she’s actively involved in cases rather than just overseeing from a distance.
From what we found, they focus on both personal and business immigration. This includes some quite complex areas like derivative rights, statelessness, and judicial review. This depth can be crucial for people who’ve already faced setbacks.
We came across a case where someone tried twice to get a visitor visa for their elderly mother and failed. After turning to Bryony and her team, they quickly took action and sent a strong letter to the Home Office.
The result shows the team’s skill and experience—a 10-year visa granted, which came sooner than expected, by the way.
They’re also accessible. Clients can choose phone, Zoom, email, or in-person meetings. People also said they’re good at explaining complex terms in plain English.
That said, a person told us they felt dismissed when they called to inquire. The staff member just gave a fee and hung up. It seems to be an isolated case, but it’s still worth noting.
We can’t thank them enough
“Me and wife were recommended to David Grey Solicitors by family and friends, and I can say they our one of the best in the northeast. I was confused on the visa application, but my solicitor, Mehdi Hassan, was so professional and experienced, friendly, kind, and understanding that it made it a very comfortable and we got the job done quickly and smoothly. We can’t thank you enough, Mehdi”

I have nothing but praise for the actions of David Gray Solicitors
“Approached David Gray Solicitors with a complicated Immigration issue which other firms hadn’t been able to support. However, they did their research following a detailed telephone call and provided a possible solution. Nothing is ever guaranteed with Immigration matters, but I was given a very professional service resulting in two successful British Citizenship applications. They made sure the documentation provided covered the required criteria, and their covering letter enabled a positive outcome. I had to be patient as one of the two cases took almost 6 months to complete, but I have nothing but praise for the actions of David Gray Solicitors and highly recommend their services, particularly related to immigration cases.”
