The 5 best personal trainers in London for every fitness goal and strength level
I’ve promised myself I’d get in shape countless times, only for the motivation to fizzle out after a couple of weeks. I’d stick to YouTube workouts, then drop them for a new series. I even bought a monthly gym membership once…and went just twice.
So when I found out we’ll be hitting the beach for our company’s anniversary party, panic set in. I needed results, fast.
That’s when my teammates (equally terrified of revealing their “winter bodies”) and I started searching for the best personal trainers in London. We talked to local fitness buffs, checked out multiple gyms, and reached out to trainers to narrow down our list.
If you’re struggling with motivation like us or just need someone to hold you accountable, here are the personal trainers that stood out during our search.
How much do personal trainers in London charge?
Personal trainers in London charge £40 to over £100 per hour. However, the rates vary greatly based on the fitness goal, trainer’s experience, and the included services. Some trainers may also offer packages that can help lower the per-session rate.
1. Adam White Fitness Coach

Address: 65 Romney St, London SW1P 3RF
Contact details:
- 07545 560 178
- [email protected]
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri:7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Sat: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Adam White is one of the best personal trainers in London, especially for people dealing with injuries who still want to stay active.
What really sets Adam apart is his lived experience. Having gone through severe trauma from neck and spine, he genuinely understands the challenges of working out with physical limitations.
Pair that with 20 years of training experience, and we feel even more confident in his knowledge.
What we especially love about him is that he actually personalises training programmes based on the clients’ goals, lifestyle, and current fitness level. This has allowed many clients to achieve their goals faster than they had expected.
He’s also not like the other intimidating trainers. Current clients described him as fun, friendly, and motivating. We felt the same during his free consultation.
He’s also very dedicated to his clients, giving each enough attention and actively monitoring their progress. This might be because he only works with a few clients at a time, allowing him to focus on each.
We also love how the programmes aren’t too intense from the beginning. They’re designed to give clients’ bodies time to adjust, which we found especially good for those just starting their fitness journey.
Helpful physically, mentally, and spiritually
“I loved working with Adam!
He was greatly recommended by a friend. I had to meet him!
I came to Adam with a painful body and a sore heart. After every class I felt energised and strong just buzzing! He helped me physically, mentally spiritual by showing me how to be kind and patient with myself. All the exercises were tailored for my specific needs. He has great love for his work and clients. - 02071182066
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sat-Sun: 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM
When we were asking around for good personal trainers in London, Ultimate Performance was one of the names many local fitness enthusiasts continuously brought up. It’s not really surprising, considering they have multiple locations across London.
The biggest advantage Ultimate Performance has over other gyms in London is its large pool of trainers with diverse expertise. This allows them to match clients with trainers who have in-depth knowledge about their goals, whether weight loss or muscle building.
The trainers are also experienced. We heard the selection process is rigorous, which really shows in the client feedback. Many of those we talked to have nothing but praise for their trainers.
Clients especially loved how the trainers can easily adjust their training plans depending on the progress and feedback.
Another thing we love about this gym is how easy they make it for clients to stay on track with their journey. Their mobile app is very convenient. It shows body composition analysis, allows trainers to check in with clients regularly, and shows measurable KPIs.
We just wish they’d improve the way they handle appointments more. Some have experienced double booking, resulting in wait times.
Dedicated & extremely knowledgeable personal trainer
“Ultimate Performance has been an incredible experience, having a 1:1 dedicated & extremely knowledgeable personal trainer training me in the gym twice a week and virtually once a week is a real life changer. The attention to detail on training as well as diet is fantastic, with the tracking of everything in the app too. I have been training with Aidan and he has been excellent. I have had PT’s in the past but Aidan & UP are at a different level. UP helps you to feel physically and mentally stronger, it is highly motivational and the results talk for themselves. I highly recommend UP.”

Professional, knowledgeable, and fully invested trainers
“Training with Anam has been a game-changer. He’s professional, knowledgeable, and fully invested in helping you hit your goals. Every session is well-structured, challenging, and tailored to your needs. His attention to form, nutrition advice, and consistent support make a real difference. Highly recommend if you’re serious about getting results.”

3. Roar Fitness London City

Address: 30-40 Eastcheap, London EC3M 1HD
Contact details:
- 020 7626 1684
- [email protected]
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Sat: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
We love how easy Roar Fitness makes it to start a fitness journey. For starters, they offer online training, which is perfect for those with busy schedules who don’t have the time to go to a gym for personal training.
Their online training isn’t just prerecorded videos, either. They provide tailored workout sessions based on clients’ levels and goals.
The programmes, both in-person and online, are varied and well-structured too. They can help with weight loss, muscle building, and strength training.
The gym’s location is very accessible too, so those who prefer in-person training won’t have a hard time. The London City location is just a few minutes’ walk from various tube stations, such as Monument Station and Bank Station.
What we especially love about Roar Fitness is that its team doesn’t just help you with exercise. Personal trainers work with nutritionists to provide clients with customised meal plans.
We think this extra touch provides clients with a more holistic approach to fitness and definitely helps them achieve goals faster.
We’ll be honest, though: their meal plans for vegans and vegetarians aren’t exactly the best in the city. The options are limited, and some clients expressed disappointment over them.
Trainer made me stronger, fitter, and gives constant support
“Roar became a part of my life! After 4
3 months of nutrition support and one on one workouts with the BEST PT, it transformed my mindset. I continue to go 6 years on, still training with Luke, who has made me stronger, fitter and gives constant support and encouragement to beat new goals. It has become a discipline I can’t live without. A great place to be with a fantastic team. 💪💪”

Clear instruction with constant tips
“I am half way through my 12 week nutrition and PT programme with Vash. Having never been a gym goer Vash has helped make the transition smooth and enjoyable. I have been pushed from the start and results are already evident. The course is a commitment but the effortless way Vash runs my sessions make it a joy to attend. The clear instruction with constant tips and support have all added to the experience. Looking forward to the second half of my program.”

4. The Fitting Rooms PT Gym

Address: Saxon House, 48 Southwark St, London SE1 1UN
Contact details:
- 020 7403 3473
- [email protected]
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sat: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Sun: 800 AM to 4:30 PM
We found The Fitting Rooms PT Gym ideal for those who want high-quality personal training without feeling locked into a long-term commitment. They have a pay-as-you-go model, so clients just pay for the sessions they actually attend.
Unlike other personal trainers in London, they don’t force clients to subscribe to a monthly contract. This flexibility makes it so much easier for clients to get started, especially those who are still testing the waters or juggling unpredictable schedules.
This flexibility extends to the training options too. They offer both one-on-one and shared training. Clients can be trained in a small group (up to 4), which is helpful for those who love learning with others or those on a tight budget.
We love that the groups are matched based on goals and strength level. It prevents clients from feeling intimidated or wasting time on sessions that don’t help them achieve their goals.
Another thing that we love about them is that they offer personal training for older adults. It’s not something that we saw a lot in the gyms we looked into, but definitely a great addition. It’s very helpful in keeping the joints of older folk healthy!
The only downside is the pricing. If you opt for the pay-as-you-go option, you’d have to pay £95 per hour for one-on-one training. Even the 10-block option is on the higher end, costing £82.50 per hour.
Smar programming; professional and cool trainers
“I’ve been training at The Fitting Rooms with shared PT for almost a year now, and I really love the concept. The format offers the best of both worlds: you still get the personalised guidance and structure of a typical 1-to-1 personal training session, but with the added motivation and energy that comes from training alongside others.
I’ve always been someone who trained regularly, but since joining TFR, I train more consistently and—most importantly—with real purpose and effectiveness. The programming is smart, the coaches are professional and cool and they create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. In just a year, I’ve seen results that I never achieved in all my previous years of training elsewhere.
Recommended!”

Modifies programme based on differing abilities
“Joined the Fitting Rooms in December 2023 and have had 1 to 1 PT twice weekly for at least the past 12 months. I have a degenerative disease called Axial Spondyloarthritis. This intermittently affects my ability to move and the treatment suppresses my immune system. Despite this, I have been able to train, because Dave modifies the programme to my differing abilities. It’s a testament to The Fitting Rooms that I’m still going strong. I’ve lost 20% of my body fat and 22 kilos despite my disability. I would recommend anyone who has a long term condition, and who feels that this limits their potential to be stronger, fitter and more healthy to give The Fitting Rooms a try. The trainers are sensitive to needs that change session to session and never make me feel I’m a failure, even training doesn’t go as planned.”

5. Delta Fitness

Address: 41 Westferry Rd, Isle of Dogs, London E14 8JH
Contact details:
- 07570 326 844
- [email protected]
Business hours:
- Mon-Fri: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sat: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Delta Fitness isn’t as big as the other gyms we’ve looked into, but it definitely doesn’t fall short on the quality of its personal training.
We found the team especially great for muscled building. Many of the clients we’ve spoken to have joined specifically to build muscle, and most are happy with their progress.
The changes we’ve seen from their clients are drastic too. The 12-week programme seems highly effective, with clients reporting they’re already happy with their bodies even before it ends.
We think the effectivity of their program is partly because of the coach’s dedication. They regularly check in with clients to ensure they’re on the right track and making progress.
They’re not limited to muscle building either. They can also help with fat loss, regardless of your gender.
The gym itself is great. The showers and changing facilities are clean and comfortable. The equipment is well-maintained too.
The main drawbacks are logistical. They don’t have a dedicated booking system, so you still have to send them a personal message or call them. They also only have three personal trainers, so availability is pretty limited too.
Every session is tailor, effective, and motivating
“I’ve been training with Laszlo at Delta for three quarters now, and the results have been amazing. He’s extremely knowledgeable and has helped me reduce and maintain my weight, gain muscle, and boost my energy levels. Every session is tailored, effective, and motivating. The gym has a great atmosphere and top-notch equipment. Highly recommend Laszlo and Delta to anyone serious about improving their fitness!”

Best gym and trainers in London
“The very best gym and trainers in London, If you are looking for a change in your training or want to begin the journey of weight loss and health improvement, there is no better place than Delta fitness you should consider. You will have a trainer every step of the way and training tailored to you. Before I began I suffered from back issues and training seems to make it worse, Laszlo changed the program to exercises that would help fix back issues by understanding what was causing them. If you are serious about your fitness don’t miss out.”
