The 5 best psychologists in Glasgow who make it easy to open up
Truth be told, when you need help, you don’t wake up one morning thinking that today’s the day you’ll look for a psychologist. It usually happens at 2 AM, when you have plenty of time to overthink and scroll through your phone.
That’s when you hit Google and search for a psychologist near you. Suddenly, you’re faced with endless options, flashy ads, and big promises. Instead of feeling relieved, you’re left feeling overwhelmed.
I’ve been there before. That exact situation prompted me to ask my Smart Brit team to help me find the best psychologists in Glasgow.
After asking around and evaluating track records and credentials, we narrowed down the options to just clinics that have truly made a difference in their patients’ lives. Check them below!
How much does a psychologist charge in Glasgow?
A psychologist may charge from £80 to £160 per session, depending on the practitioner’s experience. The final pricing also depends on the type of therapy and whether it’s offered by large centres or independent practitioners.

MAAP Psychology stood out to us for how approachable and well-rounded their care is, especially for both adults and children seeking psychologists in Glasgow.
Whether addressing self-worth issues or school-related stress, they provide evidence-based therapies to support those in need.
We also appreciate their detailed psychometric testing and evaluation. This is particularly helpful to understand one’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioural profile before deciding which therapy to use.
Their comprehensive ADHD and autism assessments are another highlight. It gives families an accurate diagnosis and a practical plan for ongoing support.
A patient who underwent an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) test shared that the experience exceeded expectations. His therapist was warm and welcoming, and the report was detailed and something he can use every day to manage his anxiety.
Across the board, we found their psychologists very supportive. Sessions never feel rushed, and even their free initial consultation feels very personalised and relaxed despite the time constraints.
The only thing to note is that they don’t have a psychiatrist on board, so you won’t be able to get prescriptions for medications.
Detailed report
“Had an ASD test done and the whole process was exceptional. Fraser was very warm, welcoming and easy to talk to. More than happy to explain anything. At no point did I fell like I was under pressure or being tested. I could take my time and just chat in an open and friendly way.
The resulting report was extremely detailed and clearly showed a lot of thought with tailoring insights and recommendations to my individual needs. This will be a tool that I can use for the rest of my life to help improve my every day experiences and reduce my anxiety.”

Psychology Cares is another psychology clinic in Glasgow worth considering if you’re looking for genuine support across all age groups.
They offer child clinical services for children ages 1 to 10. They also cater to teenagers, offering support for challenging issues like anxiety and behavioural challenges.
One thing that consistently stood out was how professional and well-organised the sessions were. Clients mentioned that they have clear goals before the session starts, that tools are provided, and that plans for upcoming sessions are discussed.
This level of organisation helps patients set their expectations and prepare themselves in advance. This makes the therapy process smoother, reducing any anxiety.
We also think it’s a big plus that they offer group therapy. This is ideal for those who want to connect with others facing similar challenges. If you’re aiming for peer support, this clinic is a great place to go.
If you prefer a more convenient therapy session, they also have online therapies. It’s just that some clients report encountering technical issues, which can make the experience a bit disruptive.

Dr. Craig Dunn & Associates Psychology Services made it to our list for making quality mental health care affordable. They’re one of the clinics we found offering more affordable rates (£70 to £90 per session).
Similar services at other clinics can cost around £120 per session.
They also have low-cost therapy, specifically designed for low-income households and students aged 16 years old and above.
Making their service more accessible really shows their commitment to supporting people with mental health issues.
The clinic is led by Dr. Craig Dunn, a senior counselling psychologist who has worked in various mental health settings, including schools and charities. That gives him a clear edge in understanding a wide range of client needs.
He’s also supported by an assistant psychologist who’s in charge of doing initial assessment sessions.
The only trade-off is longer waiting times for new clients. Because they’re one of the few practices offering experienced yet affordable care, demand remains high.

5. CAYP Psychology

Address: 34 W George St
Contact Details: +443332420824
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM
If you’re looking for a clinic specialised in supporting children and young people, CAYP Psychology is worth checking out. Their focus revolves around child or adolescent psychology and related assessment.
Also, specialised services mean patients receive more attention, more personalised care, and age-appropriate care.
They also don’t fall short when it comes to making their patients feel safe and heard. Parents noted that they know how to genuinely connect with kids, without making the sessions feel clinical.
We also find their ADHD medication service very helpful. They have a prescribing pharmacist that you can talk to in terms of medication options for your child’s ADHD. With this, you don’t have to find another service separately.
However, expect that their fees are relatively high compared to other clinics.
