best-yoga-studios-london

I took single classes to find the 5 best yoga studios in London

Range of yoga styles: I looked into the variety of yoga styles each studio provided. Key things I looked for include Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Restorative.

Class structure and training quality: I evaluated how well classes were structured, including pacing, sequencing, and clarity of instruction.

Studio facilities: I took note of the cleanliness, comfort, and overall ambience of each studio. Facilities included changing rooms, showers, ventilation, and lighting.

Pricing and memberships: I reviewed class pricing, membership options, and package flexibility. Value for money trumps affordability in this case.

Class sizes: I looked into the average class sizes and student-to-teacher ratios. Individual guidance and corrections were considered.

A good yoga studio has to have three things: amazing instructors, a spacious studio, and rates that won’t make you look twice. Unfortunately, finding all three can be as hard as spotting a free seat on the Tube.

Instead of committing to another monthly pass on blind faith, I decided to take on a more rigorous approach.

I signed up for single classes across various yoga studios in London. I made sure to get a feel of the instructors, the studio, and the prices – the goal is to find ones that make going worthwhile.

And of course, I also checked in with other attendees to see how well the studios hold up for long-term programs.

How much does it cost to join a yoga studio in London?

The cost of joining a yoga studio in London ranges from £15 to £25 for single classes and around £50 to £100 for monthly unlimited memberships. Options vary per studio.

When I was looking for variety, Hot Yoga was one of the places that stood out. They have many specialised classes, from Power Vinyasa Flow to Inferno Hot Pilates.

One of the key things I noticed was how attentive the instructors were. There’s enough good energy in the room to motivate joiners.

And according to long-time attendees, original classes change weekly. I liked this for its versatility and the fact that it integrates strength, cardio, and mobility.

The practice rooms are also great. They’re well-lit, clean, and equipped with quality flooring and mirrors.

Filtered water, drinks, and snacks are also available. For a touch of convenience, I definitely appreciate the rental mats and towels.

Unfortunately, the changing rooms feel outdated. A few attendees also pointed out that it’s too crowded during peak hours.

I booked via phone and had a great experience, thanks to a prompt and friendly response. I soon found out that they also offer a studio app, which makes booking much easier.

If you’re planning to go here long-term, it’s a must-get.

Pros

  • Attentive instructors
  • Varied class offerings
  • Offers many challenging programs
  • Suitable for all levels
  • Friendly and responsive staff
  • Easy booking via phone and app

Cons

  • Outdated changing room and shower
  • Limited ventilation in certain areas

Classes were never boring

“I’ve been to countless yoga studios across California, Miami, and London, and HYS has quickly made it to the top of my favourites list! I was literally going every single day when I was employed, and was in the best shape of my life. Even going every day, the classes were never boring and are the perfect balance of a challenging workout but not high impact/dangerous. I love Freddie, Elspeth, Jenny, and Victoria’s classes! Thank you HYS for giving me a home/community 5,000 away from home. <3”

Yogarise impressed me first with their bright and spacious studio. The natural light coming in is a great boost. It even has a reception area with a cafe and seating.

The place is so good that I was pleasantly surprised at how accessible the pricing was. The value for money is also solid, considering the community classes and introductory offers.

Options are flexible, including online programs that I actually liked. The technical quality is high – the audio is clear, and the streaming was stable.

But of course, certain factors may affect the experience (i.e., poor connection).

As for in-person classes, I can’t say anything but praise for their teachers. I appreciate how meaningful the modifications were, making it easier for beginners to follow.

Customer service could use a bit of improvement, though. Email response feels a bit slow, which can affect the booking experience.

And like most studios, peak-time classes do feel overcrowded here.

Pros

  • High-quality teaching
  • Strong pregnancy and postnatal yoga offerings
  • Bright, spacious studio
  • Has a cafe and seating
  • Flexible pricing options
  • Online and live-stream classes available
  • Offers introductory classes

Cons

  • Overcrowded during peak times
  • Occasional slow email responses
  • Certain facilities need updates

Friendly and supportive

“I absolutely loved pregnancy yoga with Ayesha here at yogarise. It was something that I was so grateful for during pregnancy, each week an opportunity to really check in with myself and my body, feel that amazing motherly energy in the room with Ayesha and the other attendees. Ayesha is so friendly and supportive, addressing where she can help during the class and follow on suggestions. The flows are relaxing and adaptable for every stage (I came from 16 weeks all the way until the week before I gave birth). What a beautiful practice – I would recommend this to anyone pregnant!”

Makes every class interesting

“I have been going to this class for some time – I really enjoy the way the class focuses on small details which look really easy but turn out to be very demanding. Becky is a very insightful teacher and makes every class interesting and different.”

3. Sangye Yoga

Opening Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 8:30 PM
  • Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM

What I liked best about Sangye Yoga is the quality of the instruction. I tried a single drop-in class and noticed how challenging the sequences are.

The best part is that the adjustments are hands-on. Nothing felt too repetitive, and I personally found the experience enjoyable.

I also appreciate the meditation endings and chantings. They were small, extra touches.

Their rates aren’t too expensive either. There are introductory offers for £39 for 14 days, as well as unlimited monthly memberships.

One thing that stood out, though, is their community donation-based classes. Pricing, in short, isn’t much of a barrier.

The facility itself also earned great marks. I loved how clear it is and thoughtfully designed. There’s adequate natural light that makes everything feel spacious.

For complete beginners, the classes may feel a little too intense. If you prefer a softer, more casual approach, it’s best to look at other studios.

Pros

  • Deep yoga education
  • Highly experienced teachers
  • Strong sense of community
  • Affordable rates
  • Unlimited memberships available
  • Offers in-studio and virtual classes
  • Hosts regular workshops

Cons

  • May not be ideal for beginners
  • May not suit all learning preferences

A supportive community

“Sangye Yoga School is a place where what I learn on the mat genuinely carries into my day-to-day life. The practice is rigorous and challenging, not just physically, but mentally as well. I leave every class feeling transformed and deeply grateful to have access to such dedicated teachers and a supportive community. It’s more than a yoga studio…it’s a true ‘school’ in every sense. Whether you’re new to yoga or experienced, this is a place for your practice and growth.”

Amazing yoga teacher

“Julia at Sangye Yoga School is an amazing yoga teacher. I attended different classes with her (open classes, spiritual warrior classes) and I am always in awe with her kindness, professionalism and talent to guide students throughout their practices. Julia also gives options to make the class more challenging if needs be. I definitely recommend to go to her.”

The Power Company is my favourite when it comes to the range of classes. There’s a good range for all levels, from Power Yoga to Yin Yoga.

Another highlight would definitely be their approach to yoga. While it’s not the most challenging, there are enough routines to keep things exciting.

This also makes it inclusive for beginners, which I liked.

The instructors maintain a good attitude throughout. There’s clear guidance in every sequence. They’re also able to adjust based on the client’s skill level.

I also appreciate the levels of passes. I tried single classes, but multi-passes and unlimited memberships are also available.

Flexibility also extends to the formats of programs. Both online and in-studio options are available. According to a few who’ve tried both, they say both formats are just as effective.

Considering this is a pretty popular spot, the classes can get very busy. The changing rooms and lockers are also too small for my liking.

Pros

  • Exceptional instructors
  • Wide variety of class types
  • Flexible memberships and passes
  • Affordable pricing options
  • Offers teacher training opportunities
  • Easy online and in-studio booking system
  • Online and in-studio programs available

Cons

  • Very busy during peak times
  • Certain facilities are small/lacking

Always challenging, creative, and never repetitive

“I’ve been coming to Power Yoga for several years, and all the teachers have been genuinely great. But Manuela Ruggiero really stands out! She puts so much care and thought into every class—her sequences are always challenging, creative, and never repetitive. You can really feel how dedicated she is to her teaching.  She creates an atmosphere that is both grounding and uplifting, and I always leave her classes feeling more connected and inspired   She’s a real gem.”

5. Yoga on the Lane

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 9:30 PM, Saturday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:15 PM

Website

I liked Yoga on the Lane for the quality of their yoga programs. One of the things I liked is that they’re able to blend physical movement, breathwork, and mindfulness.

The sequences are also great. They’re dynamic and restorative, so attendees recover properly after each session.

Other than the quality of programs, the facilities also elevate the experience. It’s filled with light, but still feels intimate.

The floor-warming system is also a big plus. This makes the entire thing feel more comfortable, even during winter seasons.

When it comes to rates, it’s within the city’s average. While it’s not the most affordable on the list, there are many offerings that boost the value for money.

Online booking is fast and seamless. I also got fast responses to questions via email.

There were just a few gaps for my taste. Other than the overcrowding, the place becomes a lot less tidy during busy hours.

Pros

  • Wide range of wellness classes
  • Cosy, light-filled studio
  • Well-equipped facilities
  • Specialised offerings for pregnancy
  • Easy online booking process
  • Prompt and easy communication

Cons

  • Crowded during peak times
  • Can be dirty during peak hours

Nice community feel

“Lovely studio with a tranquil environment. I dropped in for a class while visiting London. Easy to sign up online and yoga mats were supplied. Class with Naomi was wonderful and seemed appropriate for all levels. There was a nice community feel to the studio, wish I lived locally!”

The most incredible teachers

“Quite honestly my all time favourite yoga spot, the friendliest, cosiest space with the most incredible teachers. Sadly don’t live in LDN anymore but sometimes join their zoom classes. Definitely give it a go!”
