They don’t just serve a meal; they orchestrate a complete culinary journey covering multiple distinct regions across the country, highlighting spicy northern dishes alongside fragrant southern specialties.
Their kitchen also staunchly prioritizes time-honored preparation methods over modern shortcuts. With this approach, they ensure that the carefully sourced spices deliver deeply authentic flavor profiles.
If you’re putting together a milestone event, their highly adaptable private dining service handles everything from tailored menus to unique decorations.
Overall, the sheer attention to detail in their traditional cooking techniques makes the dining room feel alive with intoxicating aromas.
It’s worth noting, however, that securing an immediate table can sometimes be delayed due to heavy booking traffic. Planning ahead is highly recommended.

The chefs actually know what they’re doing. The food is authentic in taste and truly flavoursome. What’s amazing is that not one but all the servers are friendly and eager to help you decide and note and follow the modifications sincerely. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 12:00PM–2:30PM & 6:00PM–10:00PM
Earning global recognition as a Michelin-starred contemporary Scottish establishment guarantees a certain level of technical precision that few kitchens can match.
Chef Tom Kitchin, the owner and culinary mastermind of The Kitchin, drives a bespoke menu centered entirely on the finest seasonal produce through his strict sourcing ethos.
During my own recent visit, tasting the earthy, hand-foraged mushrooms against the delicate local seafood was nothing short of a revelation.
Those organizing special gatherings will appreciate the highly adaptable private event framework, complete with a dedicated expert service team assigned exclusively to your group.
I absolutely love that you can tailor the structural elements of your lunch or dinner to suit specific requirements perfectly.
However, keep in mind that guests must actively reconfirm their bookings at least 24 hours prior to arrival, which adds an administrative hurdle to the reservation process.
Extraordinary tasting menu and Chef’s personal touch
We celebrated our anniversary at The Kitchin and chose The Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu — an absolutely extraordinary experience. Every course was a masterpiece of Scottish fine dining, showcasing incredible local ingredients and flawless technique. There wasn’t a single dish we didn’t love, and the flavours were so good we nearly licked the plates clean!
Service was warm and professional, though the pacing slowed a bit midway through our tasting. A real highlight was meeting Chef Tom Kitchin, who personally greeted guests — a wonderful and memorable touch.

Family-friendly fine dining and hospitality
This experience was extremely special. It wasn’t just about eating such amazing food, paired with beautiful wine and service delivered to excellence; it was great to see little children so genuinely encouraged and included in a fine-dining atmosphere. My daughter truly enjoyed the beautifully delivered food, tasting amazing dishes alongside us.
We left Edinburgh that afternoon filled with joy, and even today, my little one asks, “When can we go back for lunch again?”
A special thanks to the Tom Kitchin team for doing such an amazing job. You truly understand hospitality for the whole family.

Holding down a Michelin star in the historic port of Leith, this legendary spot flawlessly mixes classic French cooking tricks with outstanding Scottish ingredients.
Restaurant Martin Wishart has been a commanding force in the local food scene for over two decades. They consistently deliver meals that feel both refined and deeply comforting.
Additionally, their cozy space is also an excellent choice for hosting work get-togethers or intimate parties of up to 45 people.
If you’re exploring the best things to do in Edinburgh, treating yourself to their special anniversary celebration menu should be high on your itinerary.
While the fusion of flavors on the plate is spectacular, the physical location presents some logistical headaches. For instance, the road outside is strictly limited to buses and cabs, meaning drivers risk severe access restrictions and potential fines just to arrive.
Perfect fine dining tasting experience
This has to be one of the best fine dining, tasting experiences we have had, and we are seasoned fine diners. From start to finish, everything was perfect. The head waiter and staff were amazing, they couldn’t do enough for you.
We had the anniversary tasting menu, and it was superb, not one dish could we find fault with. My daughter even said it was the best meal she ever had.
Highly recommend to anyone.

First-class food, service, and surprise treats
The tasting menu was amazing! Every single dish was delicious and interesting. This is Michelin starred fine dining so expect small dishes with amuse bouches between course. Each dish is described before being presented. It’s silver service, and there’s a sommelier too with an extensive wine list. I don’t like the decor too much, kind of like a hotel bar area, but it’s really not important as the atmosphere, service and food are first class. They made a fuss for my birthday too as a surprise treat. Can’t wait to go back!

4. The Table

Address: 3a Dundas Street
Contact: +44 131 281 1689
Hours: Wednesday to Saturday 7:00PM–12:00AM
Grabbing a seat at the striking stone counter lets you watch every single dish come to life in the open kitchen, creating a highly interactive dynamic.
The Table’s culinary focus leans heavily into European styles and magnificent local ingredients, utilizing modern cooking tricks to revitalize classic dishes.
I sat right across from the culinary team last month, and chatting with them while they plated up vibrant, seasonal courses made the evening incredibly memorable.
Because they operate an exclusive single sitting per night, the entire experience feels totally focused and completely unhurried.
Instead of a traditional reservation, you purchase a prepaid ticket, which unfortunately means no refunds if you can’t resell your seat.
Furthermore, they’re rigid regarding dietary restrictions, absolutely refusing to make any menu substitutions for allergies or food aversions.
Unique, fun, unpretentious fine dining experience
What a fabulous dining experience! I love the concept, and the execution. Sean and Keith have created something which feels unique and special – a fine dining experience which is relaxed and unpretentious, and fun!
The concept: one long table which seats up to 10, in front of the kitchen, where you can watch and interact with the two chefs as they go about their business.
The execution: … And what business! Michelin star level food, all freshly prepared and dished out in front of you. It’s fun – lots of fun – to watch how they efficiently and masterfully run their kitchen

Chef-interactive dining increased enjoyment
Don’t often do fine dining, but this was amazing! The experience of a single table in the kitchen with the chef preparing then explaining the food in front of you really increases the enjoyment eating it. 7 courses of Italian influenced dishes made with seasonally locally sourced produce. My new favorite restaurant; I’ll definitely go back!

Hours: Wednesday & Thursday 7:00PM–8:00PM | Friday & Saturday 12:30PM–1:30PM & 7:00PM–8:00PM
Lyla’s kitchen crew teams up with top local farms and a dedicated foraging network to guarantee that every bite sings with authentic coastal flavor.
With their entire concept based on responsibly sourced fish and shellfish straight from regional waters, they ensure an incredibly fresh, focused-tasting menu.
As for the experience, you actually kick off the night upstairs with brilliant drinks and snacks while taking in gorgeous views, setting a luxurious mood before heading down to the main dining room.
Once seated, you gain a front-row view of the open kitchen, letting you watch the talented chefs work their magic up close.
While they don’t feature large private dining rooms, the intimate atmosphere is perfect for a quiet date.
They strictly cap tables at four guests, however. Additionally, if you’re strictly vegan or cannot handle dairy, the kitchen won’t be able to accommodate you.
Phenomenal food, perfect service, incredible atmosphere
A phenomenal dining experience, 5*
We went for lunch and had the 7 course tasting menu. Without doubt the best food I’ve eaten in Edinburgh and one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Each course was crafted to perfection, the service was on point from start to finish and the atmosphere was incredible.
Staff were welcoming and attentive and the surroundings were beautiful.
If you’re wanting fine dining in Edinburgh then stop searching and book this place.
Will definitely be retuning to try the 10 course evening menu.

Stylish atmosphere and perfectly matched wines
LYLA under the stewardship of Stuart Ralston provides the fine dining experience you expect.
The vibe from contemporary Georgian space greets you immediately. A pre dinner cocktail in the upstairs lounge eases you into what will follow.
Back downstairs in the stylish dining area the tasting menu commences.
Thoughtfully sized dishes arrive. Each equally beautiful in look. Each favourable to a tee. Not to much. Not to little. Each honed to this level. Matching wines complement so well it’s difficult to imagine one without the other.
